Becuet is widespread in the upper and middle Susa Valley, where it has been cultivated since time immemorial. It is a vigorous grape, particularly in its early years, but over time productivity and vigour balance out. Fertility is high and well distributed over the plant, so that it adapts to short or long pruning. The bunch is small, cylindrical or conical, and sparse, and the grapes are egg-shaped with a thick skin. The wine it produces has a considerable extract and an outstanding polyphenolic complement. Because of the high concentration of coloured matter in its grapes, Becuet is used primarily by winemakers to improve blends with other varietals, for example Avan\u00e0.
